Topological metasurface: from passive toward active and beyond

Metasurfaces are subwavelength structured thin films consisting of arrays units that allow the control polarization, phase, and amplitude light over a thickness. Recent developments in topological photonics have greatly broadened horizon designing metasurfaces for novel functional applications. In this review, we summarize recent progress research field metasurfaces, first from perspectives passive active classical regime, then quantum regime. More specifically, begin by examining phenomena two-dimensional photonic systems, including both time-reversal broken systems preserved systems. Subsequently, discuss cutting-edge studies nonlinear reconfigurable metasurfaces. After overviewing show how they could provide new platform information many-body physics. Finally, conclude describe some challenges future directions fast-evolving field.
